Luke Kelly - Raglan Road - Oil Painting
Luke Kelly - Raglan Road
Original oil painting, by Vincent Keeling
30x30cm, oil on canvas
"This is my second painting of Luke Kelly, and this time I named it after Raglan Road, which is a magical and haunting tune; And one of my favourites. It began it's life as a poem penned by Paddy Kavanagh, but found it's true life as a song give voice by Luke Kelly. It's one of those instances of the right lyrics, finding the right man at the right time, and the rest is history; A tragic song of rare beauty that never fails to tug deeply at those heart strings within us, as Luke crafts and weaves these artful words as no one else could do. Magic." Vincent
On Raglan Road on an autumn day I met her first and knew
That her dark hair would weave a snare that I might one day rue;
I saw the danger, yet I walked along the enchanted way,
And I said, let grief be a fallen leaf at the dawning of the day....
