Ideas for Commissioning a Painting from a Photo
Hi all, this is a page I wanted to put together to let people know that when it comes to painting commissions, I do a lot more than portrait commissions.
For instance, over the years I’ve painted commissions of cityscapes, of both Dublin and London scenes.
Here's the London painting of the Thames river under a dramatic fiery evening sky seen from someone's home.
I’ve done a landscape of an old ruined building for someone with family connections to the place.
I’ve painted a rose bush, or rather, one beautiful rose from it, that was named after the couple’s daughter - a thoughtful Christmas gift from wife to husband. I couldn't find the photo of this older commission so I put this little rose painting in here as an example.
Another one I painted, also imbued with special personal significance, was of a granddad and grandchild’s boots resting next to each other after a mini-family outing.
And then, on a completely different note, I did a few paintings of a movie posters. These were commissioned by a good friend of the screenwriter to honour the film’s success.
Jumping from that to a painting of a racehorse, and you’ll get some idea of the eclectic range of commission possibilities.
All this to say that if you have some idea or photo, something meaningful in your life, or in the life of a loved, and you’d like it magically transformed into an oil painting, then I might just be the artist you’re looking for.
As with all my painting commission work it doesn’t happen quickly, so great to be planning a few months out if, at all possible. Also, no harm to check out my prices to get some idea of what size canvas you might be aiming for.
Feel free to email on any ideas, with photos if you have them and we can get the ball rolling.
Many thanks! Vincent Keeling
