ABOUT THE ART NERDY JOURNEY BLOG

This is sort of a Mission Statement for my new Art Blog for Artists, called THE ART NERDY JOURNEY - BLOG and its sister Newsletter, which I’ll link to below.
The gist of it is that I'm a self-confessed art nerd. On a daily basis I'm usually taking in some form of art content: art books, podcasts YouTube videos or more structured painting and drawing courses. And in truth few people in my life care about such things. I just don’t know what’s wrong with them. So in one way this blog and sister newsletter is going to be space where I get to share all this art related content I obsess about with some fellow-minded artists.
What will I be sharing you might ask? Well it will take many forms: Firstly I’ll be pointing you towards super-talented artists I'm learnt from myself and admire greatly. With this in mind there will be lots of links to free you-tube art instructional videos. There will be recommendations of my favourite art books, podcasts, or even choice quotes from some of the great artists through the ages.
And of course my own thoughts, and more granular nerdy stuff, like principals of oil painting and drawing, or colour palettes, or oil painting techniques, tips and strategy. Also an attempt to place differing schools and approaches in context, to help you navigate the often confusing or contradictory information out there. Lots and lots we could talk about.
Along the way, I would ask a little favour, and that is that if you’re liking the content from any of the wonderful artists we’ll be talking about, then it always helps show a little love on social media, or spreading the word the old fashioned way. Over coffee or the like.
And of course for those of you more serious-minded about upping your art game, you can keep an eye out for the paid courses offered by many of these fine artists as you follow them. And yep, I’ll have a bit of that too.
